Absolutely true. Lucille Ball of “I Love Lucy” fame will be at Women’s Night Thursday, September 15th at the Video Symphony on Magnolia Boulevard between Third Street and San Fernando Boulevard. Okay I confess the original one and only real Lucille Ball has left the mortal world and cannot make the event. However, the lovely Sirena Irwin has the lead role of Lucy in an upcoming west coast premier of the stage play “I Love Lucy” Live on Stage at the Greenway Court Theatre from October 1, 2011 through December 30, 2011.
The show centers on two episodes of the original 1950’s era sitcom. The primary set is, of course, the New York apartment of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo with their landlords Fred and Ethel Mertz. The show will also present the Tropicana Nightclub featuring the “Ricky Ricardo Orchestra” pounding out exciting and stimulating Cuban music. However if you want to meet “Lucy” you have two opportunities in the next few days. First, Sunday, September 11th she will be a celebrity judge for the 5th and final preliminary round of the Burbank International Film Festival’s comedy film competition. This is being held at Flappers Comedy Club from 9:00 pm until about 11:00 pm and promises to be super fun. The last time Sirena held court as a comedy judge in August she appeared as a gorgeous blonde. Sunday night she will blow your mind as that gorgeous red head Lucille Ball. Just one more compelling reason to get on out to Flappers Sunday night.
Thursday, September Sirena Irwin will help the Burbank International Film Festival launch year three of this rapidly growing spectacular celebration of the world of film, even if digital film. But as captivating as Lucy a/k/a Sirena is the Thursday evening event is jam packed with celebrity and fun. The amazing dance crew, “We Are Heroes” will be on hand. They took all in season 4 of MTV’s “Americas Best Dance Crew.” There will be chocolate and wine and cheese and more fun than you have ever had with your clothes on.
