Lucasfilm springs to the defense of Obama's 'Jedi mind meld' gaffe

According to a March 4, 2013 post in Breitbart’s Big Hollywood, Lucasfilm has sprung to the defense of President Barack Obama for his Star Wars/Star Trek mash up gaffe when he referred to a “Jedi mind meld.” A Lucasfilm spokesperson suggests that the president was referring to a concept in some of the books based in the Star Wars universe called a “force meld.”

To reiterate, Obama confused the Star Trek “Vulcan mind meld” which is a form a telepathy with a “Jedi mind trick” which uses “the force” to influence the thoughts and actions of the “weak minded” like Imperial storm troopers or low information voters.

“Wookieepedia” defines the “force meld” as a technique by which a number of Jedi force uses combine their powers to accomplish some goal. If that is what Obama was referring to, he is still being confused, since clearly in the concept of the original statement he wishes he could do a “Jedi mind trick” to compel Republican law makers to swallow raising taxes again.
