Ever since the announcement of the new series Star Wars: Rebels fans have been chomping at the bit for more while waiting for the premiere. Over the last few months Lucasfilm has been unleashing numerous new trailers and clips showcasing full sequences and introducing misc. new characters to the universe, but had never tol fans when the show would premiere outside of October. Now that has changed as they have officially announced that it will premiere with the one-hour movie Star Wars: Rebels: Sparks of Rebellion on October 3rd followed by the regular series kicking off on October 13th on Disney.
In case you have not been spending time in the galaxy far, far away, the new series unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy. Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people. The motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost -- cowboy Jedi Kanan, ace pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the "muscle" Zeb, warrior firebrand Sabine, and cantankerous old astromech droid Chopper -- is among a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, they will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion. While it doesn’t look like fans will be getting much in regards to the currently in production Episode VII, this is sure to only be a small piece of what will sure to be revealed of Star Wars Rebels with San Diego Comic Con in full swing. The series was created by Dave Filoni and features a great voice cast including Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus and Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor.
