This is an update on Lt. Dan, the sweet kitty who last week at this time was fighting for his life. Although his surgery hasn't yet been performed, at least Lt. Dan is now at home with those who love him.
The Community Pet Project, the 501c3 responsible for helping raise funds for his vet care, posted an update on Lt. Dan on their Facebook page today. The little guy is finally home, where he'll remain on oral antibiotics another week, as well as antibiotics in a nebulizer. After the weekly round of medication another x-ray will be taken to be sure he's getting healthy.
Right now Lt. Dan's fever has stayed down, and he's eating and drinking and wants to play with his mom. He is having a bit of pain with the infected leg, but his veterinarian at Magnolia Animal Hospital is working on that problem by prescribing pain medication.
Lt. Dan won't be operated on for awhile. His surgery could be delayed up to a month to allow his lungs to completely clear to avoid complications during the operation to amputate his infected paw.
The YouCaring fund has almost met goal on his treatment. Please click here to donate, and share the story of this brave little kitty with others. We're pulling for you Lt. Dan. You have the heart of a lion, despite your small size.
Examiner has covered Lt. Dan's story since the beginning, and the links to those articles are listed below under recommended reading.
