Theresa Plaisance, senior forward on the LSU women's basketball team has been named to the pre-season John R. Wooden Award Watch List according to LSU Sports today (Oct. 24, 2013).
This is the second nomination for the prestigious Player of the Year Award for Plaisance, a New Orleans, La. native. Plaisance joins 29 other nominees who were also nominated for the Wooden Award, including three other players from the Southeastern Conference. Also nominated from the SEC are Tennessee’s Bashaara Graves and Meighan Simmons and Kentucky’s DeNesha Stallworth.
Nominees are chosen by members of the national college women's basketball media in a poll conducted pre-season each year.
Plaisance played on the USA basketball team this past summer, helping the team earn a gold medal at the World University Games.
Plaisance leads the SEC in scoring as a returning player this year with 17 points per game. She also ranks in the SEC's top ten players overall.
Plaisance is all set for a spectacular senior year, as she is ranked fourth in LSU's history in blocked balls with a total of 101 and ready to add to this number to possibly climb to the all-time leader in blocked balls. She is also nominated for the Wade Trophy. The Tigers will be in good hands with Plaisance as their leader for the 2013-2014 season.
