LSU takes care of business against ULM

Homecoming in Tiger Stadium took on a much different feel from the edge of your seat, SEC extravaganzas of weeks past. No national television. No brutal rivalries. No public grazing. Just a sit back and relax 51-0 rout of the ULM Warhawks for the LSU faithful to catch a much needed breath.

The fear coming into the game was whether or not LSU would be sleepwalking after their emotional victory last week against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The defense squashed any hope ULM had pretty quickly, taking a page out of Alabama folklore with a statement—ye can’t win if yer don’t score any pernts.

ULM never threatened as the Tiger defense was smothering all evening long.

The offense, on the other hand, was what could be expected—uninspiring. LSU quarterbacks were a combined 8 for 22 for 95 yards. The Tigers were a little better on the ground, yet it’s not the stats you would expect to see from a 51-0 final score. The LSU defense scored almost as many touchdowns as the offense (4-2), but Patrick Peterson was pushed out at the 12 yard line after an 85 yard interception return. That was the kind of night it was on offense; short fields and field goals.

LSU now stands at nine wins with two to play. Despite only one loss, the Tigers won’t be playing for the SEC Championship. Auburn bought a victory over Georgia on Saturday afternoon to lock up the SEC West. Even though LSU won’t be traveling to Atlanta, they still will be playing for a spot in the BCS if they can win out.

Ole Miss is next up for the Tigers this coming weekend in Tiger Stadium. It will be senior day and chance for the departing Tigers to finally get a win against a Houston Nutt-led team. They currently sit 0-3 against the former Arkansas and current Ole Miss Coach. Rest assured, The Hat will make that point loud and clear this week in practice.

Breathe in Tiger Fans. It’s back to the grind of the SEC.

Can you please explain how our QB situation could be this ugly. It almost makes you want to cry out for Andrew Hatch (almost). Hate to focus on only negative, but this is a disgrace!
