Eric Reid, a safety for the LSU Tigers, has decided to enter the 2013 NFL draft and skip out on his senior year at LSU, according to ESPN.
Reid has had an outstanding career at LSU in his three years on the LSU football team. The Tigers have won 10 games each year during his tenure, played for the BCS championship title, and brought home an SEC championship. Reid's overall record at LSU stands at 34-6.
Reid made the following statement about his career and time as an LSU Tiger, "I've been very fortunate and blessed to have been able to play football at LSU. It was always my dream to go to LSU and play football. I want to thank Coach (Les) Miles and all of the people that played a role to get me to this point in my life. This was a very difficult decision because I always wanted to be a Tiger and I love LSU. But, after careful consideration and talking with my family, I feel like this is the right time to make this decision. I will always be a LSU Tiger."
Reid joins other team members who announced they would be entering the draft earlier this week. Kevin Minter, linebacker, also decided to forgo his senior year at LSU and enter the NFL draft. Others joining the list of departures are cornerback Tharold Simon, running back Spencer Ware, and Brad Wing, punter. Wing was dismissed from the team immediately before the Chick-fil-A Bowl for breaking team rules.
Four other Tigers are also considering entering the 2013 draft. Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo, both defensive ends are expected to leave. Montgomery and Mingo are juniors. Michael Ford and Bennie Logan are also considering the 2013 NFL draft.
With so many experienced and talented players leaving the Tigers for the Draft, the players that didn't see much time on the field this past year will have big shoes to fill.
