Stewart Jolly, a junior on the LSU Golf team earned a spot in match play at the U.S. Amateur Golf Championship on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 according to LSU Sports. The U.S. Amateur Championship is being held at The Country Club in Brookline, Ma.
Jolly tied for 9th place after the final leaderboard to advance to match play after scoring seven birdies on Monday and 5 under par 65 on Tuesday's round of play. This will be Jolly's first time playing in the match play tournament of the U.S. Amateur Championship, as he came up short for the match play last year at the tournament.
Jolly will have still competition in the match from the Junior Amateur Champion, Scottie Scheffler from Dallas, Tx. The remainder of the field includes the top 64 of the tournament after two rounds of stroke play who will compete for the championship and the Havemeyer Trophy,
Three additional Tigers competed at the 113th United States Amateur Championship but did not make the match play round. Ben Taylor, a junior tied for 88th place. Landon Lyons, a senior placed 182nd, while junior Miles Lewis tied for the 223rd place. It was both Lyons and Lewis' debut at the tournament.
