Head Coach Les Miles announced on Wednesday, Oct. 23 that running back Jeryl Brazil has been indefinitely suspended from the LSU football team after a second arrest in two months according to The Advocate on Oct. 24, 2013.
Brazil was arrested this past Friday (Oct. 18, 2013) on a misdemeanor summons for an incident that happened on the LSU campus at the West Campus Apartments. Capt. Cory Lalonde from the LSU police said that Brazil was issued the summons for simple criminal damage to property and simple battery after grabbing a woman by the neck and being pushed into a sofa according to witnesses on the scene.
Les Miles made a statement concerning the arrest saying, “As soon as we heard there was an issue, he was suspended,” Miles said. “He’s going to have to sort this thing out. This is his responsibility.”
Brazil was also arrested on September 11, 2012 for an altercation with another student outside a dining hall on campus and charged with disturbing the peace.
Brazil, a freshman is from Loranger, Louisiana and was a four-star recruit.
