The LSU gymnastics team leaped to the No. 1 spot on GymInfo's national collegiate poll this week when the RQS (Regional Qualifying Scores) were tallied on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.

This is the first poll released this season by GymInfo where the RQS scores were used instead of using the team's season average scores for determining the top teams in the nation. LSU's RQS for this past week was 197.470, breaking the previous LSU record of 197.400 posted in the final rankings of the 2004 season.

LSU ranked No. 3 in last week's poll, but jumped to the No. 1 spot after posting high scores at several meets on the road back-to-back. Even though the Tigers haven't won every meet so far this season, they have posted high scores consistently.

GymInfo rankings on individual events are as follows: No. 1 on vault and floor exercise with a 49.500 and 49.460 RQS, respectively. The Tigers are No. 3 on the balance beam at 49.240 and No. 5 on the uneven bars at 49.290.

The Tigers also have several No. 1 rankings for individual athletes with Rheagan Courville, a junior, ranking as the nation’s No. 1 all-arounder with a 39.595 RQS, Sarie Morrison, senior, at No. 1 on the uneven bars with a 9.935 RQS and Jessie Jordan, a junior, is No. 1 on the balance beam with a 9.915 RQS.
