The temperature was freezing outside of the Alaska Airlines Arena on the University of Washington campus in Seattle.

But it was heating up inside as the first day of the NCAA Women's D1 Volleyball playoffs at UW began with a big match-up between the LSU Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines.

Michigan looked strong taking the first two games 25-23; 25-9 and with a commanding win in that second game it looked like a Wolverine sweep was about to happen.

But in the third game LSU showed why they belonged in the post-season as they took down Michigan 25-14 to push it to a fourth game.

The Tigers kept the pressure on battling the Wolverines for every point. When the court cleared on the last whistle LSU took the win to even the match and force a fifth and final game.

The fifth game is a quicker version with the teams battling to get to 15 first. LSU kept the momentum going as they capped the comeback with a 15-10 win over the Wolverines.

They will face the winner of the nightcap, either the Washington Huskies or the Alabama State Lady Hornets.
