The Tigers racked up the third highest yardage in school history with 672 yards, although the first half was a nightmare for fans watching the game.
Three turnovers cost the Tigers 10 points for the Paladins and the defense couldn't seem to hold the Paladins back during the first half of the game, making fans wince watching Furman take control.
Odell Beckham, Jr. fumbled the ball during a punt return that gave the Paladins a field goal, leaving the Tigers with only a 20-16 lead at the half.
The second half of the game was another story altogether. The defense decided to play ball and held Furman scoreless for the second half of the game.
Terrance Magee led the Tigers to the first touchdown of the third quarter with a 33 yard run that led to a 1 yard touchdown. Magee also scored again in the fourth quarter with a 39 yard run and finishing the game with over 100 yards. Jeramy Hill also had over 100 yards for the game.
Beckam finished the game with 2 touchdowns for a total of 200 yards.
Les Miles had this to say about the game, “The game started sloppy. If we don’t turn the ball over two times in the first half, the first half is more inclined to what we would like. The second half, the offense took control and the defense played like it was supposed to. In the end, it looked like it’s supposed to.”
As for that last statement, only if you erase the first half, coach!
