February 26 -- With the race on among LPGA Tour golfers to see who’ll be the 16th player to make it into April's Mojo 6 event in Jamaica, Anna Rawson has tossed her visor into the ring in a big way.

Rawson went viral with her campaign for fans’ votes by posting a video on her Web site in which she promised to donate all of her Mojo 6 winnings to charity.

Action-packed event. The first-ever Mojo 6 is an unofficial tourney on the LPGA schedule that will pay $1 million to the winner of a series of six-hole contests played April 15 and April 16 at Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Jamaica. Check out LPGA.com for more information about the event.

The field of 15 announced players includes Christina Kim, Cristie Kerr, Morgan Pressel, and teen golfing whiz Mariah Stackhouse. Kim, who touched down in New England last summer for the CVS Caremark Charity Classic, has enthused on her Twitter feed about Stackhouse and the event.

Paula Creamer, who’s still in search of a cure for her injured thumb, is in the field but may not be able to play.

Fan fever. Event organizers decided to make it more interesting for TV viewers, who can watch the “Raceway Golf” competition on May 1 and May 2 on CBS, by giving getting fans more involved.

To that end, anyone may vote for the 16th player from among a group of 12 golfers.

Rawson, the 166-ranked player in women’s golf, is up against some tough competition that includes 2009 Women’s British Open winner Catriona Matthew, veteran Laura Davies, and Sandra Gal.

Gal stumped for votes on Ryan Balengee’s LPGACam from this week’s HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore.

Inspired campaign. Rawson, however, trumped Gal with her own pledge to give her winnings to UNICEF, International Medical Corps., and the Inspire Foundation. Rawson has a personal affiliation with Inspire, an Australian organization that helps children deal with suicide; the Aussie’s mother took her own life when Anna was five.

If Boston golfers need any more reason to vote for Rawson, note that she took her first trip to Cape Cod last summer and loved the Massachusetts “peninsula” and its “fabulous golf courses,” according to her blog.

Vote early and often. You have until March 15 to vote for your favorite player. You may also cast your ballot for Rawson here.

The PGA Tour is in Scottsdale, AZ, this week at the circus now known as the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Boston golfers may be interested to read how the infamous 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale is like Fenway Park in the desert.
