Jeremy Jones, 39, of Loxahatchee, Fla. was charged with four counts of animal cruelty on Thursday for failing to feed and care for his puppies after they were found extremely emaciated and barely able to stand.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Jones was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released after posting a $6,000 bond.
The case dates back to May when a neighbor called the Palm Beach Animal Care and Control reporting malnourished and very sickly dogs at Jones' residence. When authorities arrived, a female tan Catahoula puppy named Ginger was lying in the driveway. She had a growth on her head and a swollen face. The second pup was a male tan and white Catahoula dog named Riley who could barely stand. Both dogs were infected with parasites and fleas.
Jones admitted to not taking either of the dogs to a veterinarian for care.
Both dogs were surrendered by Jones, and have since gained 13 pounds and 19 pounds respectively.
The dogs have since been adopted through Palm Beach Animal Care and Control.
