Last night we attended one of the most interactive events...ever. In an open space in SoHo, Lowes (with the help of Valspar) hosted an amazing gathering. Once again, we had the pleasure of running into Nate Berkus (see "2011 Design on a Dime Premiere") as he co-hosted the event. Guests had the chance to experience some of the Valspar Signature Colors by using them in a series of challenges.
Attendees were commissioned to paint furniture and decorative pieces using the timeless color from the Valspar Signature Colors. Rue Magazine editor in chief, Crystal Gentilello and crew took home the prize of "Best Use of Color" for their stylish chair. Using a single accent color and two neutrals (a fav combo of Nate) they turned a white chair into a fabulous piece.
In another event, we teamed up with Green Living Expert Danny Seo for the canvas challenge. For this challenge teams were given the task of creating a canvas that demonstrated great style (and color) with Valspar paint. Using a paint can lid along with pink and green palette, we took home the prize of best canvas!
Aside from the games and fabulous prizes, this event was all about educating ourselves on paint, and its impact on design. In addition to Valspar Signature Colors, we also previewed paint from the allen+roth collection. Both collections offer users a variety of options with an advanced system that delivers precise color. No more collecting paint swatches with a subconscious fear of it drying totally different. When applied, the paint will boast brilliant hues full of super-saturated pigments.
