Now that spring is here many people do spring cleaning. The cleaning can include anything from the closets to the whole house. Very few people think about cleaning the inside of their body. Have you thought about all of the various functions the body goes through every day 24/7? If you’re going to stay alive the heart cannot take a 15 minute break. The arteries cannot be clogged either. Calling your plumber will not help in this case. However, prevention is the key by lowering your cholesterol with this food. What food? Oats.

Oats not only will lower your cholesterol but will assist you with weight loss as they release their energy at a slow pace. Also, you won’t become hungry for awhile either. However, please keep in mind that oats are still a starch and need to be calculated into your diet if you have diabetes. Oats contain vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, E, folate, magnesium, iron, zinc, selenium, silica, fiber, protein, and powerful flavonoids. Since oats are loaded with B-vitamins they’re efficient at assisting the body when under stress. Need to soothe the digestive tract or have constipation? Oats are outstanding when it comes to cleaning the inside of the body.

Here’s an easy recipe ~

3 cups of vanilla unsweetened almond milk

1 ½ cups of oats

Stevia for desired taste

1 tsp of ground cinnamon (Great for blood sugars)

1 small banana, sliced

2 tbsp flaked almonds

Place the almond milk and oats in a saucepan and cook over a low heat, stir frequently, for 5 minutes. Add the cinnamon and banana, stir and cook for 2 minutes. Add the stevia and stir again. Serve in a cereal bowl with flaked almonds sprinkled on top.

All it takes is spring cleaning your body and you’ll be feeling your oats! Happy spring!
