Already there has been released about 60 double blind studies where there is confirmation of the powerful effects of Omega-3 Fatty Acids and the active ingredient in flaxseed oil called ALA or alpha-linolenic acid. Some of the studies have concluded that the lowering effects of flaxseed oil is immediate and some have proven that with long term use you can actually get your blood pressure under permanent control and no longer will the use of medicines be needed. There are people that have taken themselves off their prescribed blood pressure medication with the help of their doctor and no longer have the need for any medicines.

Quite apart from the scientific validation of the effects of ALA in flaxseed oil there are people that will swear by its use, they will tell you that it works and works exactly how the studies and homeopathic doctors have said. The clinical validation alone shows us that taking the equivalent of one tablespoon of flaxseed oil daily can lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings by up to 9 millimeters of mercury. In fact for every one percent increase in the concentration of ALA in the body, persons can expect to see a decrease of about 5 millimeters of mercury in both their systolic and diastolic blood pressure according to clinical nutritionists.

There are two populations in the world with the lowest rate of heart attacks, they are the Japanese of the Kohama Island and inhabitants of the Crete. The Creteans typically have a threefold higher concentration of ALA than other Europeans; similarly the Kohamans also ingest ALA-rich oils (canola). Again we can see a very strong connection to ALA diets. In order to get the powerful blood pressure lowering effects of flaxseed oil you can take a daily dose of flaxseed oil in liquid form or you can use the oil and add it to your salad dressings. If you are not one to like the taste of oil then there is always the vegetable capsules that you can get in the stores and on line as well as in herb shops that can be taken daily. One thing that should not be done in the use of flaxseed oil is never cook with it, it is best taken as a cold press in fact.
