Yesterday (August 13, 2009), on its blog, the team behind the Lowcountry Africana website announced a new team member:
Lowcountry Africana, a free website dedicated to African American genealogy and history in the Lowcountry Southeast (SC, GA and FL) is pleased to welcome Michael Hait as Coordinator of the Lowcountry Africana Resource Library. In his new role at Lowcountry Africana, Michael Hait will develop and grow the website's online library with helpful resources on how to conduct a successful ancestor search. ...
Lowcountry Africana is honored to welcome Michael Hait. We look forward to his contributions and to the quality his depth of experience and expertise will add to the Lowcountry Africana team!
I am endlessly thrilled to become a member of this team. As my readers here know, I am committed to promoting sound genealogical methodology and new resources for African-American genealogy research, with particular focus on the reclamation of pre-emancipation ancestry and heritage. My association with Lowcountry Africana will help to bring this information to a larger audience, as well as allow me to be a part of an extremely interesting and rewarding research project.
I would recommend that all those interested in researching African-American genealogy in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, or anywhere in the United States, visit this website. The research conducted by this team, and the resources that are presented at the site, are enlightening.
