Low carb hot cinnamon vanilla flax cereal

Sometimes living a low-carb lifestyle means giving up some of your favorite foods. It can also mean getting a bit creative from time to time. If you are missing your hot morning breakfast which once consisted of things like grits, oatmeal, cream of wheat or cocoa wheat now you have an alternative. The good thing about this recipe is you can add seasoning and flavors to suit your taste buds.

The recipe is very simple to follow and takes a matter of minutes to create.

Boil 1/2 c water.

Reduce heat.

Slowly add 1/4 ground flax seed (or flax meal).

Stir.

Add a dash of salt, sugar free vanilla coffee syrup and a packet of Splenda.

Then put a dash of cinnamon on the top.

The net carbs were 2.5 (0.5 for the packet of Splenda and 2 for 2 servings of the particular brand of flax meal for this recipe).

The consistency is a bit goopy. If this bothers you try adding a scoop of low carb protein powder or wheat bran (depending on your low carb diet plan).
