Hoyt Sherman Place announced this week that country singer, composer, and actor Lyle Lovett will play an acoustic concert at the venue on Sunday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. A four-time Grammy winner and one-time Golden Globe winner, Lovett released his most recent album, Release Me, in 2012. Lovett has placed 10 albums in the Top 20 of the Country chart, and he has 5 Top 20 Country singles to his credit, including his 1986 hit "Cowboy Man" (featured video). Lovett will be playing the Hoyt Sherman show with a full band. Tickets to the concert are $58 or $63 at the Hoyt Sherman box office (or slightly more online through Ticketmaster), and they will go on sale on Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m.
In other concert news this week, LAZERfest organizers announced that Ontario-based rockers Redlight King have pulled out of this year's festival due to a scheduling conflict. Taking their place at LAZERfest 2014 will be Vegas natives Escape the Fate. Escape the Fate has placed three straight albums in the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 and the Top 5 of the Indie chart. The band's latest effort, 2013's Ungrateful, produced the band's biggest hit to date, "One for the Money", which hit #11 on the Mainstream Rock chart. KAZR's LAZERfest 2014 will take place on May 11 at the Central Iowa Expo in Boone. Tickets are currently $29.99 through Ticketmaster. Prices will gradually increase as the festival date nears.
