Love Your Life

It seems that our country is facing a mental health crisis-one that gun control will never be able to fix. Everyday in the news more shootings, more deaths, more injuries, and the question is why? You can't fix a problem you can't identify and guns are not the culprit, people are. People who do these things obviously don't love their lives or value the lives of others. They have become detached from each other and reality. This was not always a problem in our society. Society has changed but not for the better. What drives a person to seek revenge to this extent? Blaming others and not taking responsibility for their own problems. We all go through rough times at one time or another. We need to recognize that this time will not go on forever, problems don't define who we are - they only challenge who we are. My mom once told me that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I have to say this is one of the few things we agreed on.

Instead of solving problems with the thing God gave us between our ears, we are told we need to take this pill or that pill. What ever happened to the slogan, just say no! Drugs are not the answer and the ones currently prescribed just seem to be contributing to the mental distress of some of those who take them. After all one of the side effects listed are suicide but say nothing of homicide so I concur that this should be added to the list of side effects. It would be nice if they invented a chill pill for those who turn to violence, but I am not holding my breath for that to happen!

The news can only report the end results, investigators can only go by clues to reveal the facts, but the truth is often never discovered. So I say love your life! Find some thing to be thankful for. Take a daily dose of the Word called the Bible and renew your faith and moral compass. Most people in the Bible had more challenges than we do today and we can learn from them. They called on God in their distress and God always provided a way out. What worked then might work today if given a chance.

Oh, and don't forget to love your life!
