Here is a proposal for Valentine’s Day—not that kind of proposal. It’s more of a suggestion. What if everyone embraced Valentine’s Day as day to honor the people they love the most, their families? Instead of spending lavishly and taking a sweetheart out for an expensive meal, plan something special for your children and spouse. The Kansas City Hospice House can benefit from one activity that families are sure to enjoy.

Kansas City Hospice House performs a valuable service to the community, providing “peace of mind, comfort, guidance and expert care” to Kansas City’s seriously ill. They provide coffee for residents and visitors 24 hours a day, most of which is served in Styrofoam cups. Ceramic Cafe offers a substitute for the Styrofoam, and an opportunity for your family to do something good together.

Ceramic Café, 3830 W. 95th St., Leawood, provides ceramic mugs at a discounted rate for the entire month of February. Customers can paint a standard-sized coffee mug, adding a cheerful message or picture, and donate it to Kansas City Hospice House. The total cost is $12 per mug. Ceramic Café will deliver the donated mugs to KC Hospice House. The glazed, ceramic mugs will replace the disposable Styrofoam cups the residents and visitors previously relied on.

Enjoy an afternoon with your family, save hundreds of Styrofoam cups from ending up in landfills and spread some love to Kansas City Hospice House. Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to honor the love you have for your family, and to do some good in the community.

This is a great idea. It is good for the environment and also could help to encourage a person who really needs it!!
