SILO in Makers Quarter, the art-infused outdoor space at 753 15th St. in the East Village, continues to create ways to bring some of the best things in life together: community, creativity, and change. They have recently launched Bring Your Own Work (BYOW) Day in partnership with Moniker Group and the Downtown San Diego Partnership.
Every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. they offer their space to create a community of collaborators and creative thinking. Free WiFi is available as part of this innovative, outdoor experience that allows people to leave the office/coffee shop/library walls and enjoy working in the great outdoors. Now that the weather has begun to cool, a day outside is an inviting change of pace from the fluorescent lighting day-to-day grind.
Added pup perk: SILO is dog-friendly, so bring your pet along and take a break to play the games set up like ping pong or bean bag toss.
Once Hump Day signals the downhill slide into the weekend, every Friday through the month of August, SILO in Makers Quarter is also hosting Food Truck Fridays in partnership with CityBeat and FM 94/9 to benefit non-profit organizations throughout the city.
Restaurant on wheel favorites such as Casanova Fish Tacos, New York on Rye, Crab Cake 911, Stuffed, Brazil on Wheels, and Ka Pow will be onsite on a rotating basis offering menu items starting at 4:30 p.m. and lasting until sunset.
Friday nights will also consist of live music curated by Tim Pyles of FM 94/9, fashion from trucks Stop Shop Roll SD, Steps to Steelo, and ZB Savoy Bowtie Co. And, what San Diego event would be complete with craft beer? For a complete listing of weekly musical performance and non-profit organizations, visit at join Food Truck Fridays on Facebook. Admission to the event is free; must be 21 and up to attend.
