North County is the place to be this weekend if you want a blast from the past and a touch of the future. It all begins tonight with Love Song, the original band from the seventies' Jesus Movement who will play live at the Moonlight Ampitheater in Vista at 7pm.

Songs like Welcome Back, Two Hands, Sometimes Alleluja, Little Country Church and others promise a nostalgic trip back to days when revival hit southern California (then America, then the world)--especially among young hippies searching for truth and the meaning to life. So why is this important today?

Aside of the fact that Love Song are superb and their music is better than ever (gray hair hasn't tainted the vocals), they are also relevant. Today's young people are not so different from those hippies from the seventies. They too crave authenticity.

Suffocated by superficiality and materialism, many young people today sense a disconnect from truth, from real life. How do their lives line up in light of modern tragedies such as the Oil Spill or worldwide poverty? Californian kids often receive costly gifts and gadgets galore for graduating from school. Yet, in other parts of the world, children dream of going to school some day. Love Song's music responds to this quest for authenticity through meaningful lyrics and harmony.

And, as if the Love Song free concert wasn't enough to bring you back to what's important, Chuck Smith will also give a pertinent message. But that's not all . . . The blast from the past will skip to the future with Saturday's event hosted by Calvary Chapel Vista who will show live-stream video all day long of the Epicenter Conference -- an annual event focusing on today's world events and end times prophecies, launched by Joel Rosenburg (author and speaker).

A blast from the past and a look into the future. All happening this weekend in San Diego North County.
