Love, pure and simple, part 3

Perhaps proponents of the philosophy of “unconditional love” are those that would like God Love to be separated from, or divorced from, God Power, through a false wisdom and fake expression of purity. Why would anyone want to separate out love and have it stand alone? Perhaps it is someone who is afraid of God’s judgment, or someone who wants to keep selfish control over his or her own life, or perhaps it is someone who lacks discernment of what love really is, or someone who wants to appear holy, pure and enlightened without doing any of the spiritual work of sacrifice and surrender.

What the New Ager philosophy would have us believe, is that when we discern unreality or ungodly behavior in another, that the highest thing to do is to love them “unconditionally”. What they mean by this is to leave them alone. In other words, do not challenge their unreality or ungodliness for to do so is “unloving” and “judgmental”. If we judge in the manner of condemnation, then it is true that that is wrong, for then we are obviously not honoring their God reality; we are seeing them as less. However, if we judge in the manner of Christ in discerning and challenging their unreality in order to assist them in being more of God, then how could that not be loving?

Therefore, the question of whether or not challenging another’s unreality is loving or not boils down to simply this: Are we honoring God reality within the other? Is allowing someone to continue believing in a lie about themselves, God or life without giving them a cup of cold water in Christ’s name honoring God reality within them? Obviously not. Here we have debunked the lie behind the philosophy of “unconditional love”, a selfish, self-serving philosophy that really has nothing to do with love at all. It is not “supporting the freedom of others to choose” as some New Age teachers would have us believe, because we have no freedom to choose until we have all the facts; someone who is duped by lies has no freedom to choose. It is not “trusting God’s plan for another person’s awakening” to refrain from bringing Christ Truth to another, because God is meant to act through us in service of others for their awakening. If we are not willing to speak the truth to someone caught in lies because we have convinced ourselves that somehow they will magically be awakened on their own and therefore it is none of our business, then we are no better than Cain.

So we have to look at the motive behind different philosophies and test them against what we know of God. We grow in God by practicing our discernment of what is of the light or not (Wisdom), being tested on our willingness to choose God and God’s Will (Power) over our own superficial human preferences, comfort, and loyalties (Love), and our lower desires (Purity).

Perhaps what the proponents of the philosophy of “unconditional love” are trying to do is to imitate, in a perverted way, the true love of God that is unconditional in that it accepts no ungodly conditions as real. Yet, the difference is clear to see. God’s Love does not sink to the level of ungodly creations. We are meant to rise by putting off all ungodliness. If we are not working to put off all ungodliness, then we are not practicing love, pure and simple.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
