Love on the couch

While Valentine’s may be a distant memory, for the 100+ singles in Los Angeles who attended the Valentine’s party snuggled up on the world’s longest red couch, some may have gone home with another date on the calendar.

Promoted as the longest speed dating event in the world, BoConcept, the designer of the 213-foot red sofa joined together with Hurry Date, the largest Speed Dating company for a Valentine’s night to remember.

I had the opportunity to watch the live speed-dating event, which was a novel idea for those who were dateless on Valentine’s. The red leather couch, which weighed over 2 tons, was originally designed in 2008 for the Aarhus Festival in Denmark and has been on a worldwide tour.

It appeared the singles enjoyed the evening of mingling on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. It truly brought a whole new meaning to going on tons-and-tons of dates.

After the speed dating, singles joined together for part two of the evening, an ice skating social complete with complimentary food and drinks at ICE Santa Monica. Those who were excited about their potential dates went home to log onto Hurry Date to register their requests for another date.

Miss the February 14th event? Hurry Date has 16 events scheduled in the next month in the Los Angeles area.
