Love is in the air in Lynchburg this weekend

Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  Many couples will celebrate this weekend with dinner out at a restaurant or a weekend getaway.

Bridal Expo at Holiday Inn Downtown, corner of 6th and Main Streets from 12-4pm.  Wedding professionals will be on site to offer samples, displays, and door prizes.  If there's a wedding in your future, you won't want to miss this event.

Love at the Maier Family Project will be held at the Maier Museum at Randolph College, One Quinlan Street from 2-4pm.  This drop-in event allows kids ages 5-12 and their parents to make a Vintage Valentine.  Call (434) 847-8136 for details

World Marriage Day is all day long on Sunday.  This celebration of marriage began in 1981 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  In 1982, 43 Governors proclaimed the day, and in 1983 the second Sunday in February was officially declared World Marriage Day.  According to the website, www.wmd.wwme.org, some suggestions to celebrate the day include:

  • Looking at photographs of your courtship and marriage with your spouse
  • Sharing the story of how you met and fell in love with your children
  • Writing a love letter to your spouse

There are many other great suggestions.  However you spend the weekend, be sure to spend time with those you love.
