The Love Is Murder crime fiction conference, which was held in Rosemont, Ill. from Feb. 4-6, 2011, has announced the winners of its Lovey Awards. Originally known as the Reader's Choice Award, the Lovey Awards have been a feature of the Love Is Murder conference since 2000. Because no conference was held in 2010, books published in both 2009 and 2010 were considered for the 2011 awards.
Writing in the American Library Association’s Booklist Online, Keir Graff appears to have been among the first to publish the complete list of winners, which is included below. Mystery series fans will be pleased to note that all the winning books are series publications.
- Best First Novel: Stein, Stoned (Harry Stein series, book 1) by Hal Ackerman
- Best Traditional/Amateur Sleuth: Grace Under Pressure (Manor of Murder Mystery, book 1) by Julie Hyzy
- Best PI/Police Procedural: Hostile Takeovers (Leal and Hart series, book 2) by Michael Black
