Love, Hope, Strength Foundation helps save lives at Lollapalooza

I stopped to get the scoop from Shannon Foley on how you and concert goers can help save lives while just attending your favorite festival.

Shannon Foley:
We are a Rock n Roll based cancer foundation. We go to festivals around the country and try to swab the cheeks of festival attendees in order to find matches for patients that are in need of bone marrow transplants. This year alone we have registered about 7,000 people in the national marrow database, which resulted in about 34 matches of patients that were in need of transplants.
We also go around the world putting on concerts in crazy places in order to build cancer centers, mostly in third world countries so that they have access to cancer care.

You go to which festivals?

SF:  Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Mile High Music Fest. The really good thing that musicians love about this, is that we can pinpoint when a match occurred and at which concert. So we can tell how many lives have been saved because of Lollapalooza.
