Love for a Broken Heart

Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Ahh Valentines Day is fast approaching. The merchants have had the heart-shaped balloons, chocolates, cards and stuffed animals sitting on the shelves since Christmas. Whether you want to celebrate it or not, it’s in your face. For some it’s wonderful and amazing because they have that certain Valentine on their mind; while others may be spending another Valentines Day alone, brokenhearted and depressed. No matter what your circumstance is, God believes that everyone deserves to feel like that “special someone” EVERYDAY.

You may not feel like you’re deserving of that “special someone” love for what ever reason. But the truth is everyone on this planet is loved. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Whether we want to be loved or not, we are; because we have been created to be loved and to love. In Genesis Chapters 1 and 2, God made sure that all of His creation had a companion to go with to multiply throughout the earth, He went so far as to taking the rib out of Adam to make his Eve. It’s not good for man or woman to be alone. He did this again with Noah in Genesis 7:13-16.

It’s been scientifically proven that if a baby isn’t held and cuddled they eventually lose their will to live. I believe that can be true for anyone at any age. God built us for relationship and when we seek for that void to be filled we can end up just about anywhere. And do anything to make someone “accept” us. Down the road we wonder, “How the heck did I get here?” No matter how long or short the journey, we’ve all had those moments in our lives. And we walk away brokenhearted, ashamed and defeated.

While we wander and wonder if we’ll ever fit in anywhere and be loved…God watches. He waits for us to notice that “God space” He created in our souls. It’s like a missing puzzle piece. You know you’re not complete but can’t figure out what’s missing, until you notice everything pointing in His direction. It could be a conversation, a beautiful dawn of a new day or even a night sky filled with diamond-like stars set in perfect harmony. You begin to hear about Him and notice the works of His hands. That’s when He shows up and let’s you know you’re not alone and gently shows His love. He eventually makes it clear that He wants a committed relationship.

Anyone can have a committed relationship with God and never feel alone again. No matter who is in or out of your life; He will remain fully engaged. Jesus Christ connects us to this fulfilling and satisfying love. God offers an amazing forever Valentine filled with love, peace and acceptance. Today He asks you, “Will YOU be My Valentine?” ♥ I pray you’ll say yes.
