Falling In Love…
Falling in love can be hard, especially when we fall deeply in love. We can’t seem to get our love off our minds and just the mere mention of them gives us butterflies. Sometimes, we are so much in love that it hurts.
Falling in love with a house happens all too often and, sometimes, it even results in getting our hearts broken. How many times do you drive by the house before it’s considered obsessive behavior? You’ve looked it up on the internet and stared at the attractive pictures of its interior. You’ve called your friends and relatives and have even taken them to “meet” the house of your dreams. Unfortunately, you’ve only been in love from afar and have never even approached the house, scheduled a date to view it or even made an offer. How can you fall in love with something whose history you don’t even know?
Before we get excited about a house, it is a good thing to first drive by it and get a feel for the area. Would you like living in that neighborhood? What are the neighbors like? What is nearby ? What are the taxes in the city/town?
Now, if you have the funding you can have your Realtor schedule an appointment to view the house. During the viewing, try to determine if you could picture yourself living there. If repairs are needed, would you be able to get them done? Make sure to inspect, inspect, inspect! Getting an inspection done is a good way to prevent unpleasant surprises somewhere down the road. Advice: be careful of getting too deeply involved with a home too quickly.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
