On Monday night, Jan. 14, VH1 aired the second episode of the third season of “Love and Hip Hop”.
With a whole slew of fresh new faces this season, it’s obvious that the show will head in some different directions than previous years. As soon as last week’s episode aired, it become clear that popular New Jersey-based rapper Joe Budden was going to be a key character throughout the coming episodes.
Whether having his ex-girlfriend Tahiry still upset with him or seeing a fight break out at his house, Budden was amidst much drama last week.
This week, the 32-year old rapper invited his mother Fay over to his house. Obviously having done some soul-searching, Budden admitted to his recent battle with drug use when reflecting on the cat fight that broke out by his pool between Tahiry and Raqui.
“I relapsed a while ago,” Budden claimed. “And I was probably high that day.”
Fay spoke with much logic when offering her response, pointing out that Budden needs to watch the circle of people he is keeping around him.
“You have to let people know who you are,” claimed Fay. “Because they can’t help you if they don’t know who you are. And if the people around you can’t help you, then you need new people around you.”
Budden added that he was clean and sober for 14 years but that he started using while on a recent tour that saw him away from any kind of support system.
“It started with pills, it ended with some other things,” Budden stated candidly. “My addiction is just one of the many things that defines who I am as a person and continues to be an everyday struggle.”
Budden was seen shedding some tears and it’s obvious he isn’t taking this issue lightly.
“I had come to grips with my relapse and then that wasn’t the issue,” said Budden. “The issue was accepting that I relapsed.”
