Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star Benzino, shot

On March 29, 2014, ‘‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Raymond “Benzino” Scott was injured after being shot by his nephew in Brockton, Massachusetts. At the time of the shooting, Benzino was riding in a funeral procession for his mother. He was heading to a church in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

48-year-old Benzino was traveling on Route 3, which is south of Boston, when his nephew Gai Scott pulled alongside Benzino, and fired several shots into his red SUV.

Benzino, emerged the SUV after being struck in the arm and back and was taken by a passerby to the area’s Police Department. Soon after, he went to a local hospital.

Police who responded to the scene, found the SUV in the middle of Route 3 with bullet holes, and dry blood inside the vehicle.

Prior to becoming known on the popular VH1 series, Benzino was the co-owner of The Source magazine, which he left in 2006, to become the CEO of Hip Hop Weekly magazine.

Although there are no concrete facts on which events caused the shooting, Gai Scott wastaken into custody, and charged with assault with attempted murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in the Plymouth District Court. Benzino is currently listed in good condition.
