You don't have to be an adrenaline junkie to enjoy an adventure travel journey. But, if sitting on a lounge chair on a cruise ship is just a little too relaxing for you then maybe you should be looking for something a little more exciting . . . and, maybe, a little more exotic for your tastes.
If you're ready to venture out into the world to explore something really new, really different then you need to be aiming your feet toward Long Beach, California this weekend. And, bring your passport - sometimes there is something offered there so exciting, so irresistible and so cheap that you may want to leave directly from the show to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime bargain that may put your feet in paradise before you know it.
On Saturday, February 8th and Sunday, February 9th, the Los Angeles Adventure and Travel Show is coming to the Long Beach Convention Center for it's 9th edition and this year it is the largest travel show in the nation.
Speaking at the show this year will be Rick Steves (Host of Rick Steves Europe), Samantha Brown (Travel Channel Host), Pauline Frommer (Frommer Guidebooks), Patricia Schultz (Author of 1000 Places to See Before You Die) and others.
There will be giveaways including FREE TRIPS so here is a little suggestion for you. Do you have a little stash of all those address labels you receive with all the charitable donation requests you get in the mail? If so, bring along a sheet or two of those to stick on all the registration slips you'll be filling out for prizes at the various booths. It will save you a lot of time and you won't be juggling all the free goodies you've already picked up with one hand while trying to write with the other. You won't get tired of filling out all the slips, you'll enter more prize drawings and you'll increase your chance of winning something - just be sure and send me a thank you note when you win. And, if it's a trip for two to Malaysia or Vietnam how about taking me along?
But, even if you don't win you'll have a wonderful time visiting all the booths and learning about hundreds of great travel opportunities and lots of bargains. Many of the exhibits will include complimentary samples of indigenous foods from the destination. There will be a terrific entertainment stage with scheduled cultural performances. Some of the countries will have impromptu performances at their own booth. This is a great show you won't want to miss.
You can even have an adventure while at the show. There will be a zip line. There will be a rock climbing wall. You may have done a zip line before, but maybe you haven't tried rock climbing. This will be your chance and it will be safe. You'll be in a full safety harness with someone on belay holding the rope that secures you safely as you climb. Try it - you may never want to actually rock climb outdoors, but do it this once just for the thrill of the experience. What I am looking forward to is trying the Bubble Roller Land Orb.
There is even a travel photo contest with a terrific prize. Check out this page to learn more about it and remember to enter - but, do it quickly!
The Global Beats Stage will transport you to exotic lands and every time you need to sit down and take a break there will be some exciting cultural entertainment to keep you company.
Believe it or not this fabulous day of fun, food, entertainment and travel is yours for the remarkably low price of only $10 so jump on line now and buy your tickets. If you can make it both days it is even cheaper. Check here for all the details relative to tickets, hours, address, etc.
See ya' there . . . Keep on Traveling!
