ICANBE (Individual career advancement now! Be Empowered!) is a signature job training and placement program for workers that are immediately ready to be placed on a job. The ICANBE program is designed to increase employment levels and increase economic stability in impoverished areas of Louisville, KY. The program trains and prepares individuals for job placement at partnering employers. United Parcel Service is the lead partnering employer, followed by Walmart. Other partners in the ICANBE initiative are Walgreens, FedEx, Brantley Security, and Cintas.

Eligibility:

  • Reside primarily in zip codes: 40203, 40210, 40211, 40212
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Physically able to do sort.lift/load consistently up to 70 lbs
  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Pass background check
  • Pass drug screen
  • Possess reliable transportation (preferred)

  • Career Resource Center
  1. Fax, copy and telephone equipment
  2. Magazine, newspaper, reference books
  3. Labor market data
  4. User-friendly software for resume and cover letter writing
  5. Internet-connected computers

Employer Services

  • Job posting
  • Pre-employment screening
  • Access to pool of qualified workers
  • Employee referral, placement and follow-up
