More and more there are great stories told about people turning their talents and passions into paying careers, and that is exactly what one Louisville, Kentucky couple is doing. According to an October 1 report from WDRB News Amanda Bishop and Ty Kreft have turned their love of painting into a budding sign painting business called “State Champs.”
WDRB News reports that Bishop, who has a masters in illustration from the University of Cambridge in England, has been busy painting signs for a new restaurant called El Camino that will open on Bardstown Road soon.
Bishop told reporters that more and more owners are coming to her to have their business signs hand-painted instead of opting for “vinyl that is going to fall apart and shred in a couple of years.”
Kreft explained to WDRB that Bishop was the main painter and illustrator in the business and that he does a lot of the design work, but added that there was a lot of crossover work as well.
