Louisiana unemployment insurance claims down for week ending April 19

Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending April 19, 2014, decreased to 1,951 from the previous week's total of 2,461. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending April 20, 2013, figure of 2,619.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,125 from the previous week’s average of 2,170.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending April 19, 2014, decreased to 18,996 from the previous week’s total of 19,131. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending April 20, 2013, figure of 22,934.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 19,264 from the previous week’s average of 19,425.
