It had to end sometime.
The UTA Mavericks' perfect success on the road in the WAC fell to the team with the nation's fifth-longest winning streak, as the Mavs lost to Louisiana Tech in Ruston 64-51.
The game, UTA's first against the Bulldogs as a conference foe since 1987, kept Louisiana Tech perfect in the WAC at 10-0 while dropping the Mavs to 5-5.
The Mavs got 17 points from Brandon Edwards but had another poor offensive night overall, shooting just 36 percent for the game, including 8 percent from three-point range due to not hitting a long shot in the second half.
Neither team shot well, as the Bulldogs just hit under 37 percent but Tech made up for it by outscoring the Mavs 22-14 at the free throw line.
Tech's 15 made free throws in the second half really helped them put the game away, though they essentially had control from the beginning. The Bulldogs had a 10-point lead less than seven minutes into the game, and the Mavs were never able to get it closer to five after that.
Raheem Appleby led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
With one streak over, the Mavs now hope they can end another one and snap their home losing streak, taking on Texas State at the College Park Center this Thursday.
