Louise Waxler named President of new Tournament Directors association

Louise Waxler, a fixture in the Maryland soccer community for over 25 years, has been named President and CEO of the newly launched National Association of Tournament Directors (NATD).

The NATD is the first professional association that unites Tournament Directors of all sports. The organization brings together those individuals who provide the best competition for their assigned sport, and who best promote their athletes in order to achieve greater visibility and success.

As President and CEO of the NATD, Ms. Waxler will be responsible for overseeing all business operations, with a primary focus on identifying new opportunities to bring enhanced value to the organization's members and the sports industry as a whole.

Waxler began her career with the Soccer Association of Columbia in 1985, and continued with them until 2006. She has also organized various youth and professional tournaments, including the Washington Area Girls Soccer Tournament, the Adidas/Disney International Youth Soccer Tournament, and served as Operations Director at RFK Stadium for the Women's World Cup in 2003.

In addition to her vast career across the Baltimore/DC area, Waxler has also found time for charity work. In 1996, she founded a charity soccer tournament in honor of her friend Claudia Mayer, who passed away from breast cancer. Over the past 15 years, the tournament has raised more than $800,000 for breast cancer research and treatment.

Last year, Waxler received an award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in honor of her efforts to promote women's soccer. This October, she will be inducted into the Howard County Recreation and Parks Hall of Fame for her contributions to the community's sports programs. Her extensive background and insight will surely provide a great asset to the NATD.
