Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald Tribute

Jazz up the weekend by attending a musical tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 25, 2012. The matinee performance begins at 3:00 p.m. and will feature trumpeter Longeneu Parsons performing music of the great Louis Armstrong, vocalist Tina Fabrique performing Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington tunes, lead singer from the Platters, Myles Savage, performing a tribute to Billy Eckstine and local musician Sally Quick performing the music of Billie Holiday. With so much talent sharing the stage it is sure to be an electrifying show.

Mr. Longeneu Parsons is an accomplished musician who resides in Jacksonville, Florida. He is currently an associate professor at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). Besides being hailed as one of the world's finest trumpet players he also performs on recorders, flute, percussion and is a vocalist. He's performed in more than 30 countries, for dignitaries such as the King of Morocco, the President of Gabon, the Royal Family of the Netherlands, and many more. He has performed and recorded with big names such as Cab Calloway, Herbie Mann, Same Rivers and was a soloist with many orchestras including the Jacksonville Symphony, Palm Beach Pops, Tallahassee Symphony.

Paying tribute to the great Ella Fitzgerald is Tina Fabrique's passion. A Broadway veteran, Fabrique is no stranger to the stage and for several years has portrayed America's First Lady of Song and Queen of Scat in the touring musical, Ella. A few of her Broadway credits include Della Rose at Lincoln Center; Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk and Truly Blessed. She has toured nationally with productions such as The Wiz, Bubbling Brown Sugar and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Myles Savage, lead singer from The Platters, will perform the work of Billy Eckstine during the performance. His vocal talents have been enjoyed by many who have been in the audience of the Stars from the Temptations, Platters, Coasters and Drifters Salute. He toured internationally in the Cole Porter musical, “Porgy and Bess.”

Local talent, Sallie Quick, will share her love of the music of Billie Holiday in her performance. As a director of the Volusia-Flagler Musicians Society, Inc. she is active in the music community.

The Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald Tribute will take place at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 25, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $60 VIP and $40 reserved seating.
