LouFest announces 2014 line-up, tickets on sale now

If you had previously made plans for the first weekend of September, now is the time to break them. Why? Because LouFest is giving you a lot of reasons to be in Forest Park that weekend instead.

A little after midnight, while most people were sleeping, the people behind LouFest were busy blasting the 2014 line-up to its followers on Twitter. The entire line-up is now available on the LouFest website for all to see.

The big headliners this year are hip-hop duo Outkast and UK alternative rock band Arctic Monkeys. Outkast recently made headlines with their Coachella sets and will also be performing at this year's Austin City Limits' music fest. Arctic Monkeys have been dominating American airwaves with their latest single, “Do I Wanna Know?”, although their name is better known back home in England.

Other LouFest performers for 2014 include Matt & Kim, Kelis, Grouplove, Pretty Little Empire, San Fermin, Empires, and Cake. There is a definite emphasis on indie and independent acts this year, as the lesser-known bands greatly outnumber the more famous artists.

Tickets for the 2014 LouFest are on sale but going fast – early bird passes have already sold out completely. General admission passes for both days will set you back nearly a hundred dollars a head. VIP two-day passes are a whopping $350 total. Those attending who are under the age of twelve will get into LouFest free of charge.

LouFest takes place September 6 and 7 in Forest Park and is generally an open air event. It is one of Saint Louis' biggest yearly music festivals, which draws huge crowds from in and out of state every time. According to the Riverfront Times, the 2013 LouFest drew in over thirty thousand attendees, more than double the attendance number of the previous year. The 2014 event is expected to continue this trend.
