Lou Myers dies: ‘Different World’ actor passes away at 77

Lou Myers has died. The “Different World” actor passed away at the age of 77-years-old, People Magazine reported on Feb. 21.

According to the report, Myers had been battling pneumonia for several months before his passing. Lou died at the Charleston Area Medical Center in his home state of West Virginia.

Lou Myers was born in Chesapeake, West Virginia. The “Different World” star was the son of a coal miner. The actor attended West Virginia State University, and landed his first acting gig as the understudy in the Broadway play “The First Breeze of Summer.”

Myers also appeared in many movies throughout his career, including “How Stella Got her Groove Back” and “The Wedding Planner.”

Lou Myers died leaving behind many fans, who remember him fondly for his television roles on shows like “ER,” “Jag,” and “NYPD Blue.” However, he’s best known for his role on “The Cosby Show” spin-off “A Different World.”
