Lou Marconi takes NWA National Title

Lou Marconi is one step closer to his dream of being the NWA World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion after defeating Nitro on Saturday night to become the new NWA National Heavyweight Champion at NWA Rage II in Williamston, NC.

"You thought is was funny calling me 'Macaroni' so tell me now Nitro, how funny is it that I have the title? Your title?" Marconi said after the victory.

"Macaroni beat me after I made a mistake, you can bet I will not make that same mistake again and I will get my title back," Nitro said.

The battle between The Fold (Marconi, Cueball Carmichael, Pat Cusick, Sean Denny) and The L.O.K. (Nitro, NWA Eastern States Champion Malice, and multiple tag team champions Lance Erickson and Damien Wayne) is in its infancy but already one of the most talked about feuds in the National Wrestling Alliance.

The NWA seems to have weathered a storm of controversy and has once again solidified their place in wrestling as a powerhouse slowly inching up on Ring of Honor to be the number three company behind mainstay WWE and a fading TNA. A working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling has strengthened the NWA overall and the only missing piece of the puzzle for the oldest governing body in professional wrestling is TV.

"We (the NWA) plan on making an announcement about national TV distribution soon," NWA President R. Bruce Tharpe recently stated.

Cueball Carmichael represented The Fold as well at NWA Rage II taking on the NWA Eastern States Champion Malice, the tag team partner of Nitro and the two went to a brutal time limit draw.

"Malice is a great competitor but he didn't beat me tonight and next time he won't," Carmichael said.

Marconi won the NWA National Heavyweight Championship a short time after losing the NWA Eastern States Heavyweight Championship to Malice at an NWA CIW show in Toledo, OH. With the animosity between these two factions and the number of titles each group holds title changes are a possibility but the one thing that is certain, The L.O.K. says simply, 'welcome to violence' while The Fold proclaims 'blood, violence, victory.'

The results of the rest of the show were not available at press time but will be included once the information becomes available.
