Ed Asner the man who played Lou Grant on the "The Mary Tyler Moore" show was rushed to the hospital according to Wednesday, March 13 reports from TMZ.
Ed Asner, 83, was reported to have been taken to a Gary, Indiana hospital during a performance on stage of his 1-man show. Only minutes into his performance of his play "FDR" stage workers discovered that Asner was acting odd, and struggling with his performance.
The celebrity news site reported that Ed Asner was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. Matt Asner, his son stated later,
"My dad is doing fine. He was rushed to the hospital yesterday for being disoriented on stage. He is resting now at an Indiana hospital and is doing well and very grumpy, which with him is always a good thing.
He is being assessed right now, and what I can say is that it was not a stroke. That much we do know. He was feeling under the weather for a few weeks so he may just need some rest but for now he is just fine."
Ed Asner is best known as a film, television, stage, and voice actor and former president of the Screen Actors Guild, primarily known for his Emmy Award-winning role as Lou Grant on both "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and its spin-off series, "Lou Grant."
Asner's hospitalization comes just days after another "Mary Tyler Moore" co-star Valerie Harper revealed to the public that she was battling terminal brain cancer and only has a few months left to live. "The Mary Tyler Moore" show originally ran from 1970-1977.
