The Lotus C-01 superbike has finally been unveiled, and with pictures hitting the Internet on Sunday, fans of Lotus are pleasantly surprised to see that the future is here.
Looking like something that is fresh off the set of “Tron 2” (more on that, later) the Lotus C-01 is a bike with some seriously super specs.
The 75-degree V-twin displacing 1,195 cc gives the bike a whopping 200 horsepower. And as Yahoo recently pointed out in their detailed breakdown of this bike, the rear wheel is powered “through a six-speed jaw-type transmission and hydraulic clutch.”
Lotus Motorcycles is behind this beauty, but they are certainly not doing it alone by any means. In fact, a joint venture has been developed here, as Kodewa of Germany as well as car designer Daniel Simon and the Holzer Group are behind the Lotus C-01.
Oh, about that Tron reference? Well, if you didn’t know, Simon has been in the realm of Hollywood lately, and his “Lightcycle” design was most prominently drooled over at multiplexes everywhere when “Tron: Legacy” was released.
And if you recall that Lightcycle, and then take a look at the Lotus C-01, it’s impossible to not see a connection here.
According to Motor Authority, Simon has come out and said the following about the Lotus C-01 superbike:
"We have only one ambition--to create a unique state-of-the-art machine that carries its brutal forces with elegance and style, a high-tech monster in a tailored suit.”
