A lotto winner comes forward in Georgia to claim her Mega Millions prize. On Dec. 18, ABC News reported that Ira Curry of Stone Mountain, Ga. is one of two winners in last night's huge lottery drawing. Curry will be splitting the $636 million prize with another lucky winner from Calif. who has yet to come forward.
"Lottery officials said Curry purchased the ticket in Atlanta at Gateway Newstand and chose the numbers herself by picking family birthdays and throwing in the lucky number seven. Georgia Lottery chief executive Debbie Alford said Curry, who has so far stayed out of the spotlight, plans to take the lump sum payout, a cool $123 million after taxes," reports ABC News.
When a lotto winner comes forward in such a big drawing, people tend to want to know everything: Where did he/she buy the ticket? Was in a "quick pick"? "What will he/she do with all that cash? Well Curry has not answered any of those questions nor has she said what she plans to do with the money but she has some time to think about it... and it's safe to say that her family and friends will be well taken care of this holiday season!
While Curry does have to split the money with another lucky lottery winner, $123 million is definitely more money than most people will see in a lifetime.
After the lotto winner comes forward in Calif., there will be more news to report. Stay tuned!
The winning Mega Millions numbers were: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39; Mega Ball: 7.
