The Employees of the Pennsylvania Lottery received a Valentine's Day gift from State Attorney General Kathleen Kane when she rejected Governor Corbett's plan to hand management of the State Lottery over to British-Based firm Camelot. Attroney General Kane detemined that plan violated the State Constitution, The State Lottery Act and the State Gaming Act. According to the Patriot-News the Governor is weighing options, which could include a court challenge.
The Governor's push to privatize looks like it will continues, as a memo is being circulated to get lawmakers on board to privatize the State's Liquor Stores, according to the Patriot News. The plan mirrors the Governors proposal to auction the existing licenses, grant additional licenses to grocey and other retailers and use the proceeds to fund public education.
