Lots of festive Christmas events going on around Long Island this weekend

Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas season is in full swing here on Long Island.  Beginning this and every weekend throughout the month of December, there are many exciting events going on to celebrate and ring in the season.  From festive music to holiday house tours, Santa visits and more, there is definitely something for everyone this weekend.  Check it out:

Friday, December 2nd

Special Holiday First Friday, The Heckscher Museum of Art, 2 Prime Ave., Huntington

The Heckscher Museum of Art extends its hours for an extra special celebration to open the holiday season.  The Five Towns College Vocal Jazz Ensemble will be performing holiday and jazz standards.  Admission is free.  Check out the museum’s website herefor more information.

Old Fashioned Village Christmas, Main Street, Babylon

Babylon Village kicks off the holiday season with this festive special event.  The Main Street retailers will be holding special sales this and every Friday night until Christmas and on this opening night Santa drops in for a visit, with carolers, elves and more.  See the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce herefor more.

Saturday, December 3rd

Smooth Jazz Holiday Concert, Raphael Vineyard, 39390 Main Rd., Peconic

Raphael Vineyard is the perfect setting for some smooth jazz sounds to ring in the festive holiday season.  Contemporary saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa and local jazz musician Matt Marshak provide light holiday sounds for your enjoyment as you taste some of Raphael’s splendid offerings.  Admission is $40 per person and doors open at 7 p.m.   Also enjoy festive holiday music every Sunday beginning December 3rd at Raphael.  See their website herefor details.

Christmas Concert, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 369 Green Ave., East Meadow

Holiday Open House, Quogue Wildlife Refuge, 34 Old Country Rd., Quogue

This free event for people of all ages is a fun way to get in the spirit by helping the refuge decorate their holiday tree.  With storytelling, hot chocolate, live music and more, this one should be lots of fun!  Check out the Refuge’s website here.

33rd Annual Candlelight House Tour, Three Village Historical Society, 93 North Country Rd., East Setauket

This favorite annual event takes guests on a tour of several local houses all decked out for the holiday season.  Each home has its own docent, who will be pointing out architectural features and fascinating historical details.  A special breakfast reception is being held before the tours begin at 11 a.m., as well as an opening reception on Friday evening.  See the Historical Society’s website herefor options.

Gingerbread Decorating, Cupcake Corner Too!, 62 New Hyde Park Rd., New Hyde Park

A Dutch Christmas at Meadow Croft, Meadow Croft Estate, 299 Middle Rd., Bayport

Meadow Croft is the former estate of John E. Roosevelt and his family, and local residents are invited to view the house, which will be decorated in a Victorian/Edwardian motif, with beautiful wreaths and poinsettias, live piano music, and more.  The event will be held both Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd and 4th, from noon to 4 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.  See the Bayport Heritage Association’s website herefor more details.

Holiday House Tour, Nook & Cranny, 467 Main St., Islip

The Historical Society of Islip will be hosting this, their 18th Annual Holiday House Tour from noon until 4 p.m.  Visit several of Islip’s historical homes, including the Scully Estate, and partake in the many festivities at Nook & Cranny, including a Chinese auction, raffles, live entertainment, and much, much more.   Visit the group’s web page herefor details.

Annual Victorian Christmas, Hallockville Museum Farm and Folklife Center, 6038 Sound Ave., Riverhead

Come on down to Hallockville for a guided tour of a real homestead, fully decorated for the season, with musicians, carriage rides, stuff for kids, Santa Claus and more.  Admission if $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.  Open from noon till 4.  See the website herefor more.

Make-a-Wish Breakfast with Santa, Dave and Busters, 1856 Veterans Memorial Highway, Islandia
