Can I just tell you how much I love these guys? More than a year after LOST’s series finale, show producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof are together again, showing appreciation for their fandom and giving supporters one last morsel – and like the Cylons, they had a plan.
Over the past few days, a Twitter war was hatched (pun intended) by Darlton as they used social media to argue over the mysterious "Marbled Rye." Fans soon learned that the whole thing was a setup for their surprise entrance at the Comic-Con panel: “Entertainment Weekly Presents ... Totally LOST: One Year Later.”
EW moderators Jeff Jensen and Dan Snierson bickered over whether Jensen should be allowed to screen his bootleg copy of the “Marbled Rye,” when a man in a Stormtrooper costume yelled that the DVD was never meant to be shown. He ripped off his helmet revealing Cuse, who was quickly followed by Lindelof in a Dharma jumpsuit and Boba Fett helmet.
With a straight face, Cuse maintained that they had planned out the mythology of LOST’s entire run in the first season. Lindelof countered that the "Were you making it up as you went along?" question had only gotten worse since the series ended – so the Marbled Rye would be their smoking gun – proof positive that they knew what they were doing from the start.
The “controversial” footage is now available here and on ABC.com.
