Lack of sleep can do a lot more damage than just making you grumpy. In fact, sleep deprivation is not an unheard of effective torture tactic. But how much are those five hours of sleep a night damaging your health?

Back in 1979, the nuclear accident at three mile island is thought to have been the effect of shiftworkers who were short on sleep. Almost ten years later with the space shuttle Challenger disaster, certain managers involved in the launch had only slept for two hours before arriving to work at 1 am that following morning. Fatigue is the top factor in 100,000 automobile crashes and 1,550 crash related deaths a year in the United States.

Take a look at this infographic for more on the detrimental effects of not getting the prescribed seven to nine hours of sleep every night. Don't forget to comment and tell us what you think and like and share.
